My truck will not start. The engine turns over but does not start. l replaced the ignition coil, because there was no spark coming from the distributor or it. Should the ignition coil have power going to it from the two wires that are connected to it, because there isn't. A buddy of mine said it was probably the ignition switch that it is going out. l took it to a mechanic and for two and a half weeks they could not find the problem. l need to know what all could cause this. l checked all the fuses. The mechanic replaced the control module and the distributor and neither fixed it. So l have a new ignition coil, distributor, and control module. Any help would be greatly appreciated and THANK YOU.
l rechecked the coil and it does have power. l checked the wire from the coil to the distributor and it has power, but there is no power coming out the distributor to the plugs. The distributor is new, but even new things do not work sometimes. What else could it be.

Atleast one of the wires should have power to it. l owned one of those (same year) and loved that truck.

If you have spark at the plugs and fuel
.then l bet( If it has a timing belt )
you are missing teeth on the timing belt

The ignition coil should be getting power when u turn the key to the on position.could be a bad ignition switch or wiring problem. Try jumping power to the coil & check the ground. Check a wiring diagram to see how power is sent to the coil & check for any blown fusible link wires also.not just fuses. Some circuits run power from the ignition switch to the starter & then to the coil. Eautorepair.net has wiring diagrams.small fee..or check these diagrams.

you can conect directly to battery the ignition coil to determine if the coil is working or not, need to turn the engine by hitting the key while other person conects directly the coil to battery

if car dont runs you have to see for the other two things while if it works you have to see the ignition switch
