1. How reliable are they? The one that my parents and l jointly buy will probably have 50,000+ miles. Needless to say we will have to get it checked out by the mechanic and stuff like that.
2. Is there any backseat room? I am probably going to drive a few friends around every now and then so l do not want them too squished.
3. Do you think I am shooting too high? l know its not the conventional civic or accord but I am responsible and what not. =]

l know insurance will probably be a bit high, but I will have a job, l get good grades, I am responsible and level headed, and I am extremely cautious and careful so l wo not be pulling any stupid ''Need for Speed'' crap. Lol.

Reliability is a little skidish. l sell them & none of my customers have issues. but u do see them in & out of service unlike the Mazda3 that u never see in service for anything other than a oil change. But other than flooding the Engine, which is very easy to avoid l never see any serious issues. No tran issues or engine issues, I've seen a burned clutch but nothing out of the normal. just remember this is not a dinky engine like the Civic. Even though this is small it is a powerful direct injected engine. As long as u follow the simple rules u learn why rotary is have suck loyal devoted follwers. Now if l were buying used l would spend the extra 1,000 & get one under 50k Certified. Not much money & worth worlds.


Do not forget that story is what u r paying for. Find out who owned it, where, try to figure out how they drove it & what work has been done to it that may not be reported..

They r reliable, but the one u will buy wo not be reliable.

The RX-8 has a rotary engine. The maintenance is different. It needs different care. People do not know that it is different than cylinder engines.
Mazda RX-8 engines usually die at 70,000-150,000 miles because people use the wrong type of oil & drive it the wrong way.

l drove one. It is wuick & fun to drive. The 6 speed manual is very easy to drive. The back seats have enough room for a 6 foot person.

If l would buy an RX-8, l would get a new one so l can take care of it.
