does any body know how good miatas actually are? like how are they on maintenance and reliability when they have high mileage? like upwards to 200K miles? do they need much maintenance done when their that high? anything you know about miatas would be helpful!
the miata l found is a 2000 miata with 160K miles on it.

Most reliable. they run with 200k all the time. Not that they wo not run into issues like all makes but cost of repair is much less. Number 1 selling sports car guiness book of records. And Miata owners never want to give them up. Ca not tell u how many times they come in to buy another car or even a new body Miata & keep the old one. You rarely see them with high mileage because they r customarily 3rd vehicles. Tires r cheap to buy, brakes r cheap to replace & all services r virtually non existent in prices. Best gas mileage for a small convertible. And other than old MR2 is u can not find anything really comparable price wise. And u not only can not find MR2 is but they stopped making them so parts r not really available.

miatas need more service at 200k than they do at any lower milage as any car would. if ur thinking about buying on with that many miles on it l would not recommend it. mazdas r semi decent cars but miatas imparticular have alot of running problems & fuel problems ( startability ect) at that high of mileage. Miatas r also known for having suspension problems. they sit low & typically more weight is carried in them then should be therefor the shocks wear out springs sag, ball joints go out, ect. if u r serious about purchasing a miata with 200k u r going to have a heavy maintenance package along with it. as long as u can keep up with the maintenance the car needs ( & considering the previous owner has kept up with the maintenance) u shouldnt have a problem. but u also need to consider the car is probably old with that many miles therefor it is eventually going to start falling apart & there will be little u can do about alot of it unless u want to spend a hefty amount of money to repair rust damage & things to that effect

Mazda MX-5 Miatas are one of the most reliable cars made. But any car with 160K miles should be suspect, regardless of brand reliability. Have the car thoroughly inspected by a qualified mechanic BEFORE you buy. Used cars are sold ''as-is'' and can not be returned later if you find problems, even if the sell lied to you about the car is condition.

l own an 06 Miata & absolutely love it. For the money there is no other car that even comes close to the performance & handling of a Miata. l had an '01 Miata too. No problems with either one. They r very reliable & hold their re-sale value well.
Having said this, l would not buy any car with 160K on it. You will be living on borrowed time. Save ur money, & wait til u can afford one with under 60K on it. Then u will be able to enjoy it for a long time.
The guy who says he sells cars, & Miatas r unreliable is an idiot. He is obviously never driven/owned one. He probably sells Pontiac Soltices (the most unreliable car in America, per Consumer Reports).

Do not know where you live, but in Los Angels parts for Mitas are cheap and readily available, l own a 1991model with 107k miles Turbo charged and with a different Fuel Management, exhaust, and Electronics total cost 8K including the car the look on Honda S2000 and Boxer owners when they get beat PRICELESS!!

The mileage is at the high end.
l own 2 (one for summer & one for winter), both 90 is & l still do not have that many miles on mine.
When mine reach 200K l will start to swap the engines out for a rebuild ( l have one ready just in case l have to do a clutch before then).
Does that answer ur question about r they good? After all the first one l bought is still on its first clutch (140 K) & l have not babied it.
If u do not get it, it will be something u will regret the rest of ur life. If it needs work & u have it done, u will never regret it.
Enjoy.
