The car dies when the engine idles or whenever l stop at a light. l think it may be the idling jet or the vacums. Which one it is l am not sure so views on how to tackle the problem are appreciated. l need goodok guys, no such things like ''Get it serviced , ot Junk it'' l can fix her myself but nedd to know whats wrong first and where to look. It is a 1986 B2000 Pick up. Once again, starting her is no problem, she starts fine, just can not idle, the guy that sold her to me kept her on high idle, l bought her coz she was cheap and need a ride.So answer my question and get a best answer reward and the fact that you help one out of billions of ppl.

A couple of things
You could have a manifold leak between the Carb and the Manifold that opens up when the engine heats up Check with a few squirts of oil around the base
Next Check the cold start vale that should be connected to the lower side of the air cleaner - It could have a split hose or missing all together.
Failing the above you may need to check the throttle butterfly for excessive wear

My 626 kept on ''almost dying'' when idling at the ligths. Starting was fine, driving was fine, idling was a problem.

Spark plugs and wires were replaced and - problem solved.

if you have a tachometer in your truck could be an easy fix, take the ignition and move it until the tach show 1000 revs and thats it

thats the easy fix, the hard way is tracking the problem
