my curise control on my Mazda 626 LX 4 door its a 1997 wont stay engaged l dont know whats wrong it does this at all speeds it will engage and go a different amout of time then it always disengaged worked great for almost a year (this is the time iv had the car) now it is having issues with it. it enrages goes for a small period of time then its starts to race up for like half a sec then it disengages. l know that in the snow if it races up it is supposed to disengage but its not on any slippery or even bumpy roads it does this on. it does this at 35 or at 65 miles an hour or any ware in between. the speed l am going has no effect all the same outcome it turns on for a short period of time then it disengages. well please help me out. thanks in advance.

l would first make sure that your foot is not rest on ANY of the controls. If the car senses this it automatically diengages the cruise control. Failing this you will need to seek expert advice. Take it into an independant garage and get it checked out. Sounds dangerous too! Check out the UK Mazda 6 (and 626!) owners club for advice from like minded drivers.
