l really like this car a lot and was wondering if its a pretty reliable/quick car (turbo model). Are there any common problems to be aware of about this car?

The major problem with the rotary mazdas is the gas mileage, its not too great considering the size of the car and the engine size.

Id go with no. Its a great car, but it has a rotary engine. Its an excellent design, very powerful, very VERY smooth. The problem is 1, economy, & 2, its not a standard engine design. Depending on where u r going to school, there may not be a rotary mechanic nearby. If something were to go wrong, u might have to travel a distance to get it fixed. Not every mechanic can work on the internals of a rotary, whereas almost anyone can tinker with a 4cyl or v6. Its up to you. If u want the power & coupe tuner look without the complecated wankel engine, check out the nissan 240sx or possibly an older s200
Hope that helps!

rotaries can be a lot of work and can be expensive if you do not know what you're doing. for an average driver, l would not recommend a rotary.

Ask yourself this: how comfortable r u at being ur own mechanic? Not many shops have the expertise & capabilities to care for a rotary properly, in addition to being honest about it. What u get out of a rotary engine depends on what u put into it. If u let it warm up for 10-15 minutes on every cold start & redline it once a week, it will last forever. They use oil by design, roughly 1 quart every 3000 miles (depends on throttle position, more gas uses more oil)

With meticulous care, 400,000 miles without a rebuild can be achieved on a N/A 13B engine because there r only 3 moving parts inside the engine.

If u want a get in & go car, a RX7 is not for you. If you're not familiar with maintaining a rotary engine, u should look it up on wikipedia & then head over to rx7club.com to read the FAQs.

If you are rich, smart with rotary engines, can afford premium gas, and live in an area without snow or lots of rain, you should be fine.

Nope, nobody knows anything about rotary engines so if you buy one you have to learn fast.
